Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy employs a wide range of evidence based hands on skills and techniques. These include massage, joint and spinal mobilisation and manipulation, acupuncture, ultrasound and other electrotherapies as well as movement and gait analysis and tailored exercise prescription.

PELVIC HEALTH

We are very excited to bring you this new service the Weardale Physiotherapy. Suzy and Clare have become increasingly aware of the issues many people face with bladder and prolapse at various stages in their lifetimes and a need to support people with these difficulties.

Suzy and Clare have undergone training and become members of the Pelvic Health Academy and are now able to offer assessment and treatment options to help you take back control.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the centuries old technique of using sterile needle to stimulate specific points along meridians throughout the body. This has been proven to have local reaction in the muscle the needle is inserted into causing relaxation of the muscles, a hormonal reaction causing endorphin release and a reaction in the nervous system to relieve pain.

Pilates

At Weardale physiotherapy we are proud of our small class size and physio led teaching. This allows us to give every client the attention they deserve and tailor exercises to meet their needs. We are also able to offer 1:1 session if you feel you would like an even more individualised approach. Or zoom classes for those who struggle to come into the clinic.

Pilates is a form of exercise originally formulated by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. It focuses on strengthening the core, back and hips as well as many other muscle groups. All the exercised are modifiable and can be performed in various positions from lying to sitting to standing, with and without equipment making it truly the form of exercise suitable for everyone.

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise the focuses on strength and flexibility of the body. along with breathing control to boost physical and mental wellbeing
